Rare 1970s gothic romance by Jeanne Hines, who wrote gothics from 1973-1977 before the genre disappeared She transitioned to romance, under the pseudonym Valerie Sherwood, and became a bestselling author. Classic "woman fleeing mansion" era gothic: mysterious bridegroom, dark secrets, and atmospheric suspense. Hines later won the Romantic Times Career Achievement Award and inspired a generation of romance writers.
Book is in incredibly good condition: crisp pages, tight binding, even retains that faint new book smell. Exceptional preservation for a 50-year-old paperback from an extinct genre. Only "flaws" are mild shelf wear and naturally aged, yellowed pages.
